Phil's PHILosophy

Hi John Smith

Wow - it's the middle of the year already; can you believe it? We hope you are having a fabulous year and are surrounded by joyous music.

We know how busy you are so this edition is (relatively) short and sweet but we did want to bring just a few items of interest to your attention.

So have a quick read, or take your time if you can and then....back to work!!

Yours in harmony,

Susie & Phil

Susie's involvement included conducting the newly formed (only 3 weeks old) ACU vocal ensemble, B.Ed 3rd year percussion ensemble and performing with Phil and their good friend Russ Castleman in an acoustic trio called 'Vinyl'. Arthur Hull Drumming workshop

We have just returned from Sydney where we had a fabulous few days participating at the 'Arthur Hull 'Rhythmical Alchemy Playshop or RAP'.

For those who haven't heard of Arthur he is the 'Godfather of Drumcircles' and what this guy doesn't know about drumming, beat and rhythm you could put on a pinhead!

So now we have even more great ideas to share at workshops and student programs in the future!

New choir for 7-10 year olds

Mini Maestros Choir - Starting in Term 3!

At long last and by popular demand, Mini Maestros is establishing the Junior Maestros choir suitable for 7-10 year olds.

Weekly after-school rehearsals will be held in Carlton North starting in Term 3, 2010.

The benefits of singing in a choir are numerous. Children will learn vocal and breath control techniques, experience part-singing and practise reading basic notation through a wide range of fun, age-appropriate repertoire. Singing games and movement activities will form part of each rehearsal to allow children to work together and make new friends. The choir is an excellent opportunity for children to be part of an ensemble and continue their musical development.

The choir will be conducted by Jennifer Smith, music director of Mini Maestros. Jennifer has had extensive experience conducting primary school choirs with much success at choral eisteddfods. She is looking forward to sharing the joy of singing with everyone in the choir.

Day and time: Thursdays 4:30pm - 5:15pm
Venue: St Michael's Church Hall. Corner McIlwraith and Macpherson Sts, Carlton North.
Fees: $110 per child per 10 week term.

For further information or to enrol your child in the Mini Maestros choir, please email jennifer.smith@minimaestros.com.au or call Jennifer on 9387-1500
